Store your rainwater

Once you know how much water you need, the next step is choosing where and how to store it. The right tank, in the right location, connected by the right system, makes all the difference to the volume and quality of rainwater you can access throughout the year.

Store your rainwater

Choose the right storage vessel for your needs and decide on the best location based on proximity to your collection area and the available space on your property.

THINGS TO CONSIDER

Above-ground or in-ground?

In-ground tanks save space and benefit from natural fall between the gutter and tank inlet. Above-ground tanks are easier to install and maintain. Consider the layout of your property and what works best for your setup.

Tank material and shape

Concrete, steel, and plastic are the most popular options. Slimline tanks work well for tight spaces, while round tanks offer greater storage capacity. You can also connect multiple smaller tanks if your needs change over time.

Wet system or dry system?

A dry system drains completely after each rain event and connects your downpipes directly to the tank. A wet system runs pipes underground and is ideal when the tank is further from your collection area, but requires regular draining to maintain water quality.
